What Still Remains ?
Some
problems that still remain today with Female Genital Mutilation are that the circumstances have not changed. “It is estimated that approximately 100-140
million African women have undergone FGM worldwide and each year, a further 3 million girls are estimated to be at risk of the practice in Africa alone.” This outlandish act does not only happen in Africa is happens in multiple countries such as “ The Middle East, Asian countries, and increasing in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, the United States of America and Canada.”
Many things surprised me especially this topic. i would have never thought that
such outrageous act was real . when i first started reading about this topic i
was surprised and disgusted at the same time. some people think that a women
should not have pleasure while having sex , why do they think that ? it is
supposedly a part of their religion or culture, its just total
ignorance.
Throughout the various articles have about Fauziya Kassindja FGM topic she shows to have taken initiative to try and stop FGM by taking it to court and having laws
passed in various countries trying to stop FGM."In 1997, WHO issued a joint statement with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) against the practice of FGM. A new statement, with wider United Nations support, was then issued in February 2008 to support increased advocacy for the abandonment of
FGM."
